TORONTO (CCN) — St. Augustine’s Seminary has been evacuated, one of the multiple Toronto schools that received bomb threats this morning, Toronto police report.
Police say there is no evidence to suggest the threats are credible. They have apparently been made by the same person.
Bruce Jr. Public School in the Leslieville area has also been evacuated.
Police say there are actively investigating the threats.
“Earlier today, St. Augustine’s Seminary received a threatening voicemail, which was promptly reported to Toronto Police upon discovery”, said a statement by the Archdiocese of Toronto regarding the incident. “Out of an abundance of caution, the building was evacuated and police were onsite quickly to conduct a thorough investigation. After receiving an ‘all clear’ from police, St. Augustine’s faculty, students and support personnel have returned to the building.
“The safety of our staff and seminarians remain our top priority. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and continuing to follow their guidance. At this time, Toronto Police have indicated there is no evidence to suggest the threat is credible.
“We are grateful for the prompt response and support of emergency services onsite at the seminary this morning.”
