Publishing expert Joe Sinasac will walk you through how to recognize an idea that has the potential to be expanded to book length, how to find a publisher and how to make your pitch. Sinasac also will share observations about the current state of Catholic publishing in North America. The webinar will include 20 minutes for Q&A.
Our speaker:
Joseph Sinasac’s remarkable career in journalism and religious publishing has spanned 48 years, including 14 years leading Canada’s largest religious publishing house, Novalis Publishing, as publishing director.
He has been an award-winning reporter, editor, author, newspaper publisher, radio and television commentator. At Novalis from 2009 to 2023, he oversaw the publication of Living with Christ, a monthly missalette, and the Sunday Missal, along with an English-language publishing program of more than 30 new titles each year. He also was responsible for the U.S. edition of Living with Christ and the Sunday Missal.
He authored three books for Novalis, including Christmas, John Paul II, and Fateful Passages: The Life of Henry Somerville, Catholic Journalist. He also wrote “From the Great Depression to the Digital Age: A Canadian Catholic Publisher’s Journey,” in Chasing Paper: Critical Reflections on Christian Books and Publishing. Ed. Stephanie L. Derrick (Cascade Books, 2021).
As a publisher, the question he was asked most frequently by potential authors was: “How do I get my book published?” His answer lies in this workshop.
