A memorable event was celebrated at St. Patrick Parish in Saskatoon Sept. 6, as six couples received the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Catholic Church during a single, joyful ceremony.

Fr. David Tumback presided at the celebration of marriage with the six couples, all of whom have been legally married for between 12 and 23 years.

Initiated and supported by the leadership of the Couples for Christ (CFC) Saskatoon, through discernment and later in close consultation with St. Patrick pastor Tumback (who is also the Spiritual Director for the group), the joyous moment finally came into reality.

Encouraged by CFC leaders in conformance with its philosophy to abide by the teachings of the Catholic Church, together with the yearnings of the couples to receive the Sacrament, this group wedding came to be. There is a possibility that this first group wedding might be followed with others, open to all couples desiring to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Catholic Church.
