VANCOUVER (CCN) — Canada Post’s 2025 Christmas stamp has a distinctly British Columbia flavour this year, thanks to both its artist and its first-day cancellation.

The annual Nativity stamp, released in early November, was illustrated by Vancouver Island artist Bex Morley, who created a gentle, traditional depiction of Mary, Joseph and the infant Jesus beneath the star of Bethlehem.

Morley’s artwork continues Canada Post’s tradition of presenting sacred Christmas imagery alongside its secular holiday series. Her design uses soft colour and light to highlight what she calls “the tenderness of the moment at the heart of Christmas,” a contrast to the stylized digital images and bright graphics that dominate contemporary holiday advertising.

The B.C. connections don’t stop with the artwork. The stamp’s Official First Day Cover was cancelled in Hope, B.C., with the postmark featuring a simple star motif chosen to echo the Nativity story. The location was not accidental: Canada Post said the choice of Hope was intended as a reminder of the message Christians celebrate at Christmas and a nod to a community name that has taken on deeper meaning in recent years.
